Workcamps, usually of the length of 7-14 days, have the purpose of:

• Supporting ongoing activities of KTLA in the village

The foundation runs non-formal learning, educational, community development, environmental and leisure activities in the village with the help of middle- and long-term international volunteers. When a larger group of volunteers stay with us for a limited period, such as school holidays, it brings refreshment to our activities and allows us to do more, introduce more diverse activities, reach and involve more people to participate actively in the life of the community.

• Offering learning opportunities to the volunteers

We offer a unique, immersive – experiential, self-directed learning process in a multicultural setting. We encourage volunteers to question themselves, set personal learning goals and find the connections between this experience and personal or professional fields of their lives.

This opportunity is not only for those who study or work in the fields of formal or non-formal education, lifelong learning, language teaching, sports, community development and the protection of environment, but for all those who would like to challenge themselves with an enriching life experience. Going abroad, living, learning and working together in an environment distinctly different from your everyday one, changing your daily routines, temporarily giving up on some of your habits, encountering and becoming part of the local community in another corner of the world is an intense learning process, beneficial to everyone brave enough to take the risk.

 

Possible activities for workcamps

 

1. sports, games, arts & crafts workshops with children;

2. educational activities for children about environment and different cultures;

3. teaching English to children through creative, participatory methods;

4. construction and renovation of public community spaces together with the villagers;

5. mangrove conservation together with the villagers.

 

We can organize camps focused on a single topic as well as a mix of activities. Considering the level and the relevance of the experience of the volunteers, we encourage them to take responsibilities and tasks where they feel confident and motivated to contribute. The more we communicate with the sending partners in advance, and the more they involve volunteers in the distance preparation, the more the program of the camp will be tailored to the learning needs of the volunteers.
